SFL : Searching for a New Home !

Selangor Floorball Association is currently looking for a new home to host the regular floorballs during weekends as well as the upcoming Selangor Floorball League !

Due to the recent closure of Sports Plaza, Section 13, Petaling Jaya; the place that we play floorball every weekend, we are currently unable to play floorball on a regular basis and the upcoming league is just weeks away. So we are in a hurry to looking for a new home to host this extravagant event of the year. The criteria of the court is as following:

Basic requirements:
Indoor court (Preferably parquet court)
Size - about 40x20m

Area - Preferably around Petaling Jaya area

A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner, the people were in and out of the cold. The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell many papers.

He walked up to a policeman and said,

"Mister, you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could find a warm place to sleep tonight would you?

You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight. Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You go down the street to that big white house and you knock on the door. When they come out the door you just say John 3:16, and they will let you in."

So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said, "John 3:16."

The lady said, "Come on in, Son."

She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself: "John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes a cold boy warm."

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?"

He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food,"

The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat any more. Then he thought to himself: "John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure makes a hungry boy full."

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: "John 3:16... I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out."

The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room, tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the window at the snow coming down on that cold night, he thought to himself: "John 3:16...I don't understand it but it sure makes a tired boy rested."

The next morning the lady came back up and took him down again to that same big table full of food. After he ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom
rocker in front of the fireplace and picked up a big old Bible.

She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face. "Do you understand John 3:16?" she asked gently.

He replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it was last night when the policeman told me to use it,"

She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace, he gave his heart and life to Jesus.

He sat there and thought: "John 3:16 -- don't understand it, but it sure
makes a lost boy feel safe."

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either, how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end. I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.

Something has been bothering me the whole day. It was the sermon this morning, and it still bothers me now. Well, it is about Leviticus and how God wants us to keep our "fire" burning. The "fire" here is about passion; the passion for Him. In Christianity, it is important to keep our "fire" burning hot for him because it is sort of like a motivational booster in serving Him. If the fire dies, then we will slack off and fall into temptation easily within a snap.

Well, that was how I view on the "fire". But what struck me most was the 3 losing ends, blame my bad memory on recalling all 3 of them but the one that leaves a huge impact was losing faith. Believe me; I personally believe that it was a warning. To be honest, I backslided a lot lately; like seriously a lot. Funny as it seems, even though I knew I am backsliding, I was really embarrassed because I am not doing anything about it. I seem to have let things fall in just like that without taking any action against it.

I guess mainly because I have big commitments. They might not be many but they require huge responsibilities. Somehow, my time managing skills are not as good as I thought it was, and hence I sort of let things clash against each other. And on Sundays, I am feeling jaded and totally tired out especially when I am in church.

I was terrified after hearing the sermon because many imaginary thoughts flash through my mind. Like, what if one day I have completely lost faith in God ? What would my life be ? Am I going to be able to find my way back to him ? And all sorts of negative thoughts.

It is definitely something that, I believe, all Christians will think about at one point in their spiritual walk. Like seriously, did you ever wonder how your future would be like ? I dream big; seriously big, and it occurs all the time. But dreams will not get me anywhere if I do not take it seriously.

Losing faith in God is like a dead end in Christianity. That is because it defies the teachings, and if you do not believe in Him, then you will not accept the teachings. That is why faith has been discussed and reminded repeatedly.

Fellow readers, brothers and sisters in Christ, I hope this is something that you will think about seriously. Are the things you're involved in now something that will still keep your passion for God burning ? And of course, pray about it as well.

The Eye of its Beholder

I guess this should be made a routine to blog after every post made by Joanne. Somehow what she said in her recent post was true, it is about owning something just simply defines you as the owner and not the expert or something like that. But what caught my attention was when she said about the "eye".

Maybe let me explain more before I get to the main point. Everyone knows that I play floorball and guitar, but the fact is whether or not I am a true floorball player or guitarist ? Everyone can own a guitar; or a floorball stick. As long as you have the $$$, then it will not be any problem for you to own it. But that only means you are just an owner of that item, it does not show that you are truly a floorball player or a guitarist.

And like what she said, it requires experience and the eye to be that somebody. Yes, experience can be gained over a period of time, but the eye is very hard indeed. Trust me; despite playing guitar for 5 years already, I am still not a very good guitarist; probably because I do not practise hard enough. That alone has explained that I am not really a guitarist or just a guitarist by name only.

And that leads to the main point of this post, what is the EYE ? The EYE is not about the haunted movie or literally the eye that humans or animals have. But the eye is actually your heart. Why do I say so ? This is because you will only do something passionate out of your heart. Believe me, after doing something passionate like myself, I will never believe that someone could do something passionate out of their mind. Even if he/she can, then that passion will die gradually. Hence, it is your heart that is important.

Yes, I do love playing guitar. In fact, I use the guitar to express my feelings and voice to God; to worship Him. But it is floorball that shows who I really am. Do you know that human beings' attitude changes when they are put into a game of sport ? Yes, they do change. I have a friend who is kind of an introvert in his nature of personality, but he is the captain of my fiercest rivals, Subang Rascals. When he plays, all his commands to his teammates will be "flying" all around and it is loud enough to be heard from the spectators' bench in Sports Plaza. Maybe this is not convincing enough to support my theory, another friend of mine who does not swear in reality, but when he plays sports and especially when he is not satisfied with others, then he will start raising his voice and give his teammates a great "lecture".

Well, you have to play sports yourself in order to accept the theory. But my whole point is to show why I am more passionate in sport than in music. Not that I am talented or really good in it, but I want to shape my personality with it. When I am able to control my anger in the court, then I will be able to control in reality.

As a matter of fact, I think the eye is what makes you "YOU". Maybe you might be able to be yourself in other field. But seeking for the eye is not an easy task; it requires lots of effort and time to seek. At the end of the day, you have to give it all to God's glory. The bible verse that I refer most in glorifying God in whatever that I do is 1 Corinthians 10:31.

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

-1 Corinthians 10:31

Whatever your eye is, you must always remember to do it all for the glory of God. It is a totally different experience when you are doing it for God rather than for yourself. To me, it seems meaningless if I do not use it to glorify Him.

As a conclusion, for those who are seeking the "eye", take your time. Time allows you to seek it in a more effective way, never rush yourself to get it. Like the old phrase, "Beauty is in the eye of its beholder." By its literal meaning, it means that different people will find different things beautiful and that the differences of opinion don't matter greatly. At the initial start, you might not be appreciated by many. But as long as you have the "eye", people will appreciate you slowly. It takes time for a person to accept who you are. And as long as you are passionate and serious with it, then I am sure that you will do well in it.

Dreams Define the Future

Wise words from Joanne when I read from her blog, believe me, I did not know there is a sense of wisdom in her, but it is good to have such friends especially when you are having writer's block.

From her post in her blog < http://jozillarawrs.blogspot.com/>, it is mainly about having dreams and the feeling of fulfilling dreams.

Dreams; what can I say, everyone has dreams. I have dreams too. I have this dream that one day I will become a professional floorballer and compete with other elite players in the elite leagues like the Swedish Super League or the Salibandyliiga in Finland. These two leagues are the top floorball league in the world and it is very much like the English Premier League or Spanish Primera Liga in football.

But of course, to fulfill such dreams, you have to bear strong determination and willpower. And it all depends on how you are going to trigger that dream to become reality. Your dream is the key to unlock a great future.

Recently, my parents have been nagging and pushing my brother to get a job as soon as possible because he has passed his final exam for several months already and is graduating in March. So, my brother is a kind of person who is very cautious in picking something like an occupation. He is so picky that it takes him a relatively longer period of job hunt. However, it is also important to have such cautious mind because you will not make any mistakes in selecting the line of industry you want to venture into.

In my point of view, the future is a very complicating element. You cannot predict what lies ahead of you and you cannot know what is in store for you in the future. It reminds me of the second "Back to the Future" movie where Doc. Brown brought Marty and his girlfriend to the future. However, the doc has warned Marty that he must not know how is his future like as to avoid any trigger or disturbance to the time continuum of the present Marty to his future. Any changes in the future might trigger the present's dimensional world. It is a very complicating movie but a very interesting one as well.

I am pretty sure that everyone wants to know what their future is like; I want to know mine too. But we must also think of such risk like we might change any "actual" decision and triggered the future and thus changed the future. That is why it is important for us not to know about our future and leave it mysterious.

That is why "Dreams Define the Future" is the title of this post. You must have dreams in order to shape your future. You cannot expect or guess what lies ahead of you. I have always told myself and my friends that in order for you to know the future is to get yourself involved into it or give it a shot. You have to seize the opportunity to allow the future to be shaped and not by waiting for it to happen.

Trust me, I will not believe that I will be where I am in Malaysian floorball if you tell me about it 2 years ago when I first joined Salibandy!Co. It takes time for me to realize that the path I am heading to is the path that will change my lifestyle. I admit that switching sport is the right decision for me because I did not enjoy such privileges now as I have when I was playing football.

Yeah, though the floorball market is still growing in Malaysia but it has opened up many opportunities for me to venture into; such as Unihoc Tiasa. With the contacts and relationships that I have with my Singaporean employers, I am sure there is an opportunity for me in Singapore if I want to join their company in the future. But of course, whatever is in the future remains in the future.

From the Scripture, Jeremiah 29:11 is the best verse to relate yourself to what God has planned for you in your future. After all, His plans are always the best.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." - Jeremiah 29:11

"To give you" is the key phrase in this verse, as it tells you that God will definitely give you future and hope in your life. He will not abandon you like a strayed sheep and let you wander around in the wilderness without any guidance.

I personally believe that we need God's guidance in order to reach our dreams. Yes of course, you must commit your dreams into His hand and let Him take charge of it. Glorify Him in all that you can in this process of dreams fulfillment.

If you want to have a great future, then you have to have a great dream to define it. You cannot get a bright future without any dreams; everything is related to one another.

As a conclusion, God is the light to give you guidance in your life. You cannot walk alone without Him. He gives you the stepping stone and you have to take each step in accordance to His time. You cannot rush or skip one step because everything might go into a chaotic situation. Have a strong and realistic dream; dreams that are reachable. Never go too ambitious because it might kill you instead. Carpe Diem ! Seize any opportunities given to you, and then you will be able to discover your future. Like the same old phrase, "Never try, never know."

It is that time of the year again, where everyone dresses themselves as BRIGHT as possible to welcome better luck and fortune for the new year. Gosh, I am a Chinese myself but sad to say that I do not bear much CNY spirit with me. Don't ask me why, but I am not really hyped up for Chinese New Year, besides collecting Angpau of course.

Recently, I have been feeling empty on the inside; lack of thoughts to write anything on my blog, which explains why it has been so empty in recent months. Probably because I have used all my mojos on college works and training that I just want to relax and do nothing when I am home. Believe me, I am feeling empty even though it is Chinese New Year.

I think because we have moved into the new generation that we do not care much about our tradition and stuffs compared to our folks. I personally do not know much on the Chinese culture as well except for the basics.

Unfortunately, in recent years, I have not been to my grandma's place for the Chinese reunion dinner anymore. Mainly because my parents are still cleaning up the house on the eve of Chinese New Year, yes, I just said Chinese New Year eve. So yeah, they will not go for the dinner because they are tired out. So, the four of us will just go to a fancy restaurant and have our very own reunion dinner instead of going to my grandma's place to be with other relatives. Yeah, tradition is changing over time. Maybe in my grandchildren's generation (if I ever have one), we will just post Chinese New Year greetings and have our own individual dinner instead.

One thing for sure, the tradition of Christianity will never change. We will still go to church and worship on every Sunday even if Chinese New Year falls on a Sunday ! We will still partake the Lord's Supper, still listen to sermons etc. This is the one tradition that I will never forget and always remember deeply.

I have to admit that I have been backsliding a lot lately. I still pray to God every night, but just that I do not attend much Christian events that often anymore. I missed the RBS 2010 graduation night last Thursday because I have to go grocery shopping with my parents for Chinese New Year. Awesome much ? But well, I am sure they have experienced and spent superb time with God like what I have also did during my RBS days.

Distractions have been a great liability in my life; each day I faced different kinds of distraction that caused me to stop doing one work just for another. I have time management skills; probably that is why I am distracted most of the time. Nevertheless, I am glad that God has been with me throughout these tough times.

Well anyway, I just want to wish everyone Happy Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. Yeah, it is a great way to celebrate these wonderful events. Both requires you to celebrate it with your family and loved ones. So, make the best out of it ! =)

Boy oh boy, that really got me into thinking. Am I competing to be the best ? Or am I just playing for recreational purposes ?

I have been working out really hard lately because I wanted to improve and get my feet hard on the ground to have a firm base in the sport. I guess the competition is so tight that I really have to be outstanding enough to shine. And then, that got me into thinking again. What brought me into this sport in the earlier stage ?

I played Floorball not just because I love it, but because I know that it will be a great tool to evangelise. Just like what the Penang Floorball Association is doing now, every club in Penang was formed through church groups; which is rather important.

I believe that God does not demand for the best awards or recognitions from us. Rather, He demands that we do it out of our heart rather than our physical self. It was our heart that is important to Him. Even if you did not shine in the game, but as long as you shone for Him and it was from your heart. Then I believe that He will be pleased with whatever our performance is.

Many people still doubted in me when I said that I commit my performance in Floorball by glorifying Him. I am not surprised because it is something that takes time to be able to be noticed. I do not want to be the best, but I want to give my best. Even if goal drought has influenced most of my performance, but all that matters is my heart in serving Him.

It takes time to let people find out what is God doing in your life. Take "Facing the Giants" as an example, it takes the coach and the team about a period of time before God showed His glory and power when we believe in Him.

It could take days, weeks, months, or even years before God showed His purpose in us. We might have faced failures or obstacles along the journey, but we must always believe that He is with us all the time. Just that everything will happen according to His will. You do not have to be the best to please God, but you can please Him by being the best in the right way and the right purpose.

Well, I have not gotten it yet. But I really want a NSD Powerball ! Apparently Lada (my Floorball teammate) brought it to UM last night and he used it as a warm-up tool. It was kind of cool and really hard to control the speed. But it is all momentum; once you got hold of it then it is easy.

As far as I know of, there is no dealer in Malaysia, yet. It is a great exercising tool especially for Floorballers like me who need more strengths in my arms. The diagram shows how it affects your arm.

It costs about RM85 according to Lada, which is relatively cheap for a lifetime guaranteed product. Yes, it is LIFETIME GUARANTEED ! Awesome eh ? Might be getting it once I find out more about this cool little sphere.

2010: A New Year, a Brand New Beginning

It is 1:39pm now and I am still unable to believe that 2009 has ended in a glimpse of an eye. Gosh, time flew like mad last year ! It was as though I am in the real-world version of "Fast and the Furious".

Time is definitely moving fast and furiously. But one thing for sure, I am thankful because God has guided me throughout the year and I have learnt many things indeed. If you ask me, 2009 has been revolving around with Floorball; how I started off as just an average player whose skill is at zero-level. And as time passes by, I have ended up in who I am in the Floorball scene of Malaysia.

I must say that God has a purpose in every areas of my life. Of course, I am still unsure on what to do especially with Unihoc Tiasa. But I am pretty sure that I can use this to please Him by handling according to His will.

I do not know what lies ahead for me in 2010, but I know it will be another blast.

My New Year resolution is simple and I am going to focus more on Floorball as well as to do it in a more spiritual way. Floorball-ization is my aim. I want to Floorball-ize the nation by planting seeds into every single Floorballers' heart in Malaysia, and that God will use me as an instrument to sow the seeds and serve as a living testimony.

I am sure that everyone thought that Floorball-ization is all about promoting the sport, but it is not. God will be the centre of the movement and that only He will decide whether or not it will work. I want to use every single aspects of my life to please Him. I have screwed up in 2009, and I will not repeat the same mistake again. All I need for 2010 is to have faith in Him who is my provider.

Let 2010 be a life-changing experience for everyone. God bless and happy New Year. =)

I would like to thank "anonymous" for asking me on my chatbox. He/she asked, "How is playing floorball making history in Christ's name?"

It seriously got me into thinking, whether or not my path in Floorball is the path that God wants me to be at. It somewhat reminded me of the time when I decided to give my best and commit my future in this sport into God's hands. It was indeed a rocky path; from a total rookie into someone in Malaysian Floorball. I would not have done it without God's blessings.

I have never credited each compliment into my own, but I give it to God and praise Him whenever I was complimented. After the final day of the League, everyone sent me messages to thank and appreciate for what I have done throughout the season. I was happy of course, but ultimately, I am glad that God has put me into a place where I truly enjoy working at. And to thank Him, it is by glorifying Him and not taking into my own account in every single achievement.

You might think that I am being naive or over-reacting. To be honest, I am unsure whether or not it was His will as well. But seeing the progress I have made so far, I am beginning to realize and believe that God is using me to make an impact in this sport.

So how do I make history in His name ? It is by showing a Christian attitude. We are the ambassadors of Christ, which is why it is important to be at our very best manner in all situations. Sports are a good place to stay at your coolness. That is because when you are playing in a match, your temper starts to rise and the Devil is actually tempting you to burst into anger towards the opponent or even your teammate. Yeah, I do get angry over certain issues on the court. But I always remember in my heart that I should not react to it and to forgive that person. Sometimes I failed to do so, but most of the time I succeed in it. And this is how you create a good impression to others. When you have created a good impression, then you are creating a good impression in Christ's name.

These are just my personal belief, it might not be true. But after all, believing in God matters most. I like the story given in today's devotion from ODB.

"When a friend fell off her bike and suffered a severe brain injury, doctors weren’t sure she would survive. For several days she remained suspended between life and death.

The first good news came when she opened her eyes. Then she responded to simple voice commands. But with every small improvement, anxiety remained. How far would she progress?

After one difficult day of therapy, her husband was discouraged. But the very next morning he shared these welcome words: “Sandy’s back!” Physically, emotionally, psychologically, and mentally, Sandy was becoming the “self” who we knew and loved.

Sandy’s fall reminds me of what theologians refer to as “the fall” of mankind (Gen. 3). And her struggle to recover parallels our struggle to overcome the brokenness of sin (Rom. 7:18). If only her body healed, recovery would be incomplete. The same would be true if her brain worked but her body didn’t. Wholeness means that all parts work together for one purpose.

I like the last paragraph, which we must work out our salvation and not to earn it but to bring our thoughts and actions into agreement with His purpose. Whether or not Floorball is the right field for me to serve in His name, I am unsure. But I know for sure, that if my focus is towards God and to bring glory to Him, then I am in my right field. Others might think that I am doing it out of my own likings, but some agreed that God is with me in this field. I would not have been this far without His blessings and support.

Re-Adjustment

But in the seventh year the land is to have a sabbath of rest, a sabbath to the LORD. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards. - Leviticus 25:4

The verse above was from Sunday's devotion in ODB. It is about readjustment; just what I needed. With the League has come to an end, I have to re-adjust my lifestyle because we will be having more breaks and normal Saturday Floorball just like what we did before the establishment of the League.

For some reason, I really miss playing in the League even though it was only 2 days since the end. I love making history in Christ's name. That has been my purpose throughout the season, and I am sure that His name has been glorified based on the compliments given to me in my contributions in the committee as well as the achievement of Gang Bintang.

But I really have to re-adjust my life to be more spiritual. I have been slacking as I was struggling to battle against fatigue on Sundays; I skipped church some Sundays due to muscle sores. I know it was bad.

Taken from Our Daily Bread:

"With our busy schedules and our hectic pace of life, we too need readjustment. Demands of work, family, and church can require reevaluation. One way we do that is by observing the sabbath principle—making sure to set aside time to rest and prayerfully refocus our priorities. Jesus, for example, went “to a solitary place; and there He prayed” (Mark 1:35)."

The solitary place mentioned in the verse is definitely a hard place to find especially when I still have my assignments to accomplish. But the only solitary place I have now is while I was driving home or to somewhere. I love it when the radio is playing sentimental and soft music because it relaxes my mind and eventually I hardly think about the unfinished tasks I have.

No doubt, 2009 has been a wonderful year. The progresses in my life have been positive and I must say that God blessed me more than I have ever expected. He is truly a gracious God, and a loving Father; a faithful Friend.

I would like to take this post to thank those who have asked about the condition of my thigh. Yeah, I did not talk much about it. But since Joanne Jun Lee Sun Sun asked me to blog about it. So yeah, I have injured my thigh during the friendly against Z-Tec yesterday. I have yet to go for a medical check-up because I think it was not really that serious. I believe it is just muscle strain. If it has not recovered by Wednesday, then I will go for a check-up. Thank you for the prayers made by some of you. Appreciate it much.

Joe King, my classmate in college, even jokingly said that I should buy insurance for my hands and legs since I have been selected into the state team. Gosh, it is just a state team. No big deal about it.

In the meantime, I have to get used to life without competitions again. The next Floorball competition would be the Malaysian Champions' League which probably held in March 2010 after the international tournament. But till then, it is just casual and recreational Floorball on Saturdays and probably in UM on Wednesdays.

Just by the title of the post alone, everyone knows the result.

Yes, Gang Bintang has won the first Selangor Floorball League. The best part of all is that the team is the Invincibles ! Simply means we were unbeaten throughout the season, very much like what Arsenal did in the 2003/2004 Premiership season.

I debuted my new Unihoc Player SQL Bow 4.5, and it is simply magical. I scored with it despite not being used to it. Yeah, everyone said that it is the stick, which I truly agree, but scoring against Rascals is a personal achievement.

Not only that, I made it to the Selangor state squad. Awesome !

So many achievements in just a day. Truly praise the LORD for it ! Without Him, I doubt I would be at this level. All glory goes to Him.

Looking back at 2008 where I have just started playing, it would be just a dream thinking that one day I would become a champion in a squad.

First and foremost, I would really like to thank God for these experiences. I will not be who I am right now without Him. Yeah, I am not really that great. But I am still thankful that I could improve so much just in a short time. Trusting in Him is definitely the key factor in my life. I doubted before, but I still trust that He will guide me and lead me.

Secondly, I would like to thank those who guided and nurtured me throughout this period. Salibandy!Co., Khalid, Sjaiful, Hafidz, Illyaz, Dennis, Juha, Arizal, Song and many more because there are really too many of you who helped me. I will definitely dedicate the match to you guys tomorrow, though I will be playing against some of you.

Thirdly, I would like to thank Khalid and Sjaiful for believing in my capability. Week after week of advices and guidance is definitely going to pay off tomorrow. Yeah, I let both of you down sometimes with my performances and close-range misses, but I can guarantee that I will make you guys proud tomorrow.

I might win or lose tomorrow, but it will still be my most memorable day. It has been a rough journey, but I enjoyed walking through this rocky road. I pray deeply in my heart that God will bless Gang Bintang and Subang Rascals, as well as KLIUC Hornets and Salibandy!Co. tomorrow. I will glorify Him and praise Him in whatever performances or results.

2 in the Christmas Wishlist CHECKED !

I met with Kenny, the GM of Floorball Tiasa, the Floorball company that is distributing Unihoc in Malaysia, and he told me that if there is anything I need like sticks wise, I can just tell him directly and he will give it to me as part of the contract (I think), and of course there is a limit to it. Will be receiving the contract when he comes back to Malaysia. The deal is done !

Since the set of sticks he left with me before he went back to Singapore today, one of them is the Player SQL Bow which I wanted it most. And Kenny said that I can take one. So, most probably I will be taking the Player SQL Bow. Hope he will approve of course. =)

I am half way there to check this out of the Christmas wishlist.

All I Want For Christmas Are These ..

With Christmas just around the corner and I have so many things to do this month. Gosh, I do not even have time for Christmas shopping. Trust me, I am blogging this post because I am taking a break from assignments and studies. So, my normal routine before Christmas is to post what I want for Christmas this year. I am not expecting any of you to give me these, but if you want to, then I do not mind. =)

1. Sponsorship !

My Floorball career has just hit on the road, and I am sure God is the One who gave me all these. Since I have secured the distributorship deal for Unihoc, now I will be hoping to get a sponsorship from them.

2. Player SQL Bow 4.5

This stick is THE bomb of all bombs in the Unihoc collection. I will be expecting to switch to Unihoc soon since I am distributing their products. This stick is a precious jewel. It is comparable to Fatpipe's Bow 28. This stick is superb for ball-controlling, and of course, killer shots. A must-have for Forwards and Centres who have killer instincts. However, the price is also a bomb. It is a high-end stick, so it costs about RM600 in Malaysia.

3. Nokia N97

A Nokia N97 is what I really wanted a lot. If Nokia released any newer than N97, then I will be getting that instead. I tried this phone a couple of times and it has given me that "I so want it" feeling.

4. A Championship Medal

A week and a day left before the end of Selangor Floorball League, Gang Bintang is now trailing 2 pts behind leaders, Subang Rascals, with 2 games in hand. If we win the two games this weekend, then we will be back to the top of the table with 2 pts ahead of Rascals. And the final matchday will be against Rascals, so we will have an advantage over them but we cannot lose to them with many goals conceded as they will overtake us on goal differences.

This will be my first winning medal in all Floorball competitions, I only have one bronze medal which I received in UM Cup last year with Salibandy!Co. So now I will be eyeing for the perfect prize.

I always bear the attitude of "putting God first in everything that I do." Well, it was not easy at first. But as time goes by, I got used to it and involved Him in the things that I do. It is tough, trust me. Though you knew that your main purpose is to glorify Him, but sometimes you tend to stray away from the goal.

To be honest, you need to have a sacrificial and willing heart in order to do so. You have to ask yourselves, are you willing to keep at a low profile ? Even if you are already at a high profile which people have already known you for who you are, can you ignore those compliments given to you ?

In many occasions, I always nodded and thank them when they gave me compliments about my efforts and contributions; most of it from my works in the Floorball association and league. You can say that I am being humble, but I do not take compliments seriously. Often, I treat it as a motivational tool for me to strive and glorify God even better.

My friends always said that I am a very competitive person, which I admit that I am. But in my competency, I tend to be nervous and afraid of mistakes. I can make silly mistakes easily, this is one of my flaws. When nervousness strikes, I will have no idea what I am doing.

But at the end of the day, whether or not I did it great or badly, I know that God only looks what is inside your heart. It is just like the scene of the widow's offering in Luke 21.

As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."

Even though our gifts to God are small, but He is happy when we give our all to Him. Who said you need to earn a million dollars in order to please God's heart ? What matters most to Him is your heart. I always give Him my very best, even when I am tired or scared, I will still do the task given. That is because as long as my God is with me, I have no fear and will do all things well through Him.

What is wrong with me ?

I used to be one of the fearsome forwards in any match I played. But it seems like I have lost the scoring touch. My goal drought has been extended till 4 matches ! This is not good; my stats are now at 4 games, 0 goals, and 2 assists. Wow, my career low.

I enjoyed the game just now, it was against the National team and it has been a year since the friendly match I had. We lost just now, but 6-4 was a satisfying result if we take into account that we have zero training together and the National team has gone through many tough trainings.

But the biggest issue is that I have lost my form. I played badly recently, like really bad. I used to score in every single game but ever since the League has started, I have slacked a lot. It is time to score, Jethro !

Life is Really Fragile

I was kind of outdated till I read the shocking news of the death of Robert Enke, one of Germany's finest goalkeepers. It seems like my busy schedule had taken over most of my times especially in keeping up to the latest sporting news. I admire Robert Enke, not just because he played well for my team in Championship Manager 2008, but overall he is a great keeper. He is lining up to compete for the number 1 goalkeeper spot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad for Germany.

Reading the news sort of given me a knock on my head that life is really fragile. This phrase applies to everyone; celebrities, politicians, world-class athletes, average people, in other words, everyone. You might have thought that people like Robert Enke and other celebrities or athletes do not have problems because they are filthy rich. One salary is equivalent to my 10 years of salary if I join the work force in the future. I think Cristiano Ronaldo's basic salary is equivalent to my entire life ! But people like them tend to have more problems than the average people. Like Robert Enke, he has depression for 6 months and no one knew about it except his wife. On the pitch, he seems to be fine in performing his duty as a goalkeeper. But off the pitch, he was also troubled like an average person.

This is the time when I remember that friends and family are very important. We might have forgotten the smallest details of that friend or relative, but we never thought of the chances that these details could lead up to suicidal thoughts in them. Trust me, when things go tougher and tougher, we will tend to think of some "shortcuts" to solve the problems, and that alone is by committing suicide. Yeah, it is a foolish act. But think deeply, if you are in that situation and stuck in it, you might not think that it is foolish.

Of course, it is bad to commit suicide. We have to appreciate life, though we always complain that we are so unfortunate to have such life; like why I am not rich ? And all other "why" questions in our head. But try to think further; shouldn't we be glad enough to be given a life ? I have heard many abortion cases, accidents and all sorts of life-and-death related issues. Aren't we lucky enough to be alive ?

I do have thoughts of escaping from problems, but I do not think of ending my life. You can ask my friends, whenever they said they want to give up on life, I will give them a hard talking or in other words, lecture them. There are many ways other than committing suicide. The only person I would talk to when I am stuck with a problem, I will always talk to God. Yeah, the solution does not come instantly, but there is a sense of peace in mind after the prayer.

God does not encourage us to commit suicide; in fact He encourages us to appreciate life. As quoted by Maggie on her blog.

Jesus did not came to the earth to see us suffer, but He came to give us life; a whole new point of view on life. We used to live in a life bounded by sin, totally. There was no way out to escape from a sinful life. But Jesus came and became that "way", so that we could go back to the Father once again and bond a close relationship with Him. Christianity is not a religion, but it is a relationship. And Jesus is the one who draws us closer to the Father.

One of my favourite verses of the Bible is John 14:6. Jesus said, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." and in John 3:16, Jesus said," For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Jesus is the life, and by ending it with our own hands is like ending the relationship between us and God. I am sure that it hurts God a lot to see His children ending their own lives. Yeah, sometimes we tend to feel sick of life; I do too. But having a life is the most precious things you ever had. And hence, we should appreciate life and not ending it just because of certain issues we faced. When there is a will, there is a way. This quote applies to everyone who is having a problem.

Trust in Him, and He will provide you a way out.

Have you ever stopped in front of a crossroad and wonder where should you go ? Well, this is life. I have written a post about "Decision-Making" before, but something just prompted me to write it again. Well, most probably because I have a really big decision to make. It could change my lifestyle as well if I have made that decision.

People always tell me to make a decision that is according to God's will. To be honest, it is easy to make a decision but hard to identify whether or not it is the will of God. Yeah, prayer does help. But are we observant enough to know about it ?

Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, we have to make decisions. It is the one thing that we cannot run away from. We have to face it everyday. Yeah, it can bring good things to you but it can also bring bad things to you. I always say that making a decision is the toughest thing to do in this world. And it is true. Show me someone who says that making a decision is actually easy ? If there is such person, then he/she must be lying or just trying to impress the people around them.

Everyone has different problems; no one can help you in making your decision. Well, they can guide or advise you. But at the end of the day, you are the one who will make that decision. Once you make it, it is better not to regret. There is always a 50-50 outcome in every decision; wonderful or terrible.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. - Prov 3.5-6

Based on the verse above, it is true that we should just leave it to God and trust in Him. Yeah, you might not know whether or not it is according to His will. But you can always trust Him with that decision. God will not leave you alone to handle the problem; He is everywhere because He is omnipresent. And He will be with you all the time.

I will let everyone know about the problem that I am currently facing soon, well at least when I have made the decision. It is the 3rd day since the day I was being asked of that issue. And I have planned to give my decision tomorrow.

Just a note to everyone, prayers will always work. So keep praying as you will find the answer and make a great decision upon it. =)

A Historical Day

I have not felt this nervous ever since my glory days in football; my big day against the Malaysian National team last year; and last but not least, playing for Salibandy!Co. against Singapore ITE this year.

Tomorrow, I will be playing against Subang Rascals, a team that is the only threat to Gang Bintang's conquest of the Selangor Floorball League. I always believe that this day will come someday and yes it did. With my increasing reputation in Malaysian Floorball, I would not have believed with my eyes that someday I would be at this level.

I am not a very good player like Khalid, Sjaiful, Deswyn or any other famous Malaysian floorballers in town, but some of them believed that I will be in their level soon. It was their belief in me that kept me going and striving even more. Of course, I have to stop my eagerness to score in a game from ruining my overall performance. Ever since I started playing sports when I was little, I always have the killer instinct. That is why I loved playing strikers or forwards. But it was this killer instinct that affected my performance; it never failed doing so.

Tomorrow, I expect that I will be playing a much more defensive role like what Khalid gave me in the match against Griffins last week. But of course, I am a CHRISTIAN floorballer. All glory and praises I received will all be unto God. Without Him, I do not think that I would have made this far. Started playing this sport a year ago, I would say that I am really lucky to have so many experienced and great players who are willing to teach, guide, and eventually nurture me into a who I am today.

It will be my toughest match so far, but I am sure that Gang Bintang will do it again and probably continue the scoring streak. May God bless both sides.

Friends Love Each Other

I am very much of an introvert whenever I meet new friends. Yeah, I know many of you who are close to me will say that I am not an introvert. But to be honest, I actually prefer to be quiet and just spend the rest of the day without talking much. For some situations, I have to talk a lot because the topic might be interesting or I just feel like talking a lot.

Personally, I do not like to have conflicts with anybody. Even if I have, I will not fight back because I stand for my own beliefs. Of course, I am not saying that I am always right but sometimes you have to avoid conflicts by not fighting back. After all, you will truce with that person in the future. So why fight while you can just be friends and forget about it ?

Over the week I have encountered many bad happenings in Floorball. Last week, Khalid told me to be careful when I play in the match because it was against my former team and that I have been warned by my teammates to be careful whenever I had an encounter during the match. True enough, I was tossed around like nobody's business but I was not mad at them because it was a game and it happens all the time.

Even in mid week, I received bad claims by them and yeah, I held back and do not want to take it personally because I was at fault too but I decided not to start a verbal war. Some supported me, some did not. Well, I cannot do anything about it but to get on with it. I cannot let things like these to distract me especially when the League has already begun. My performance last week was not at its best. I admit that I did not play well. Just like what Arizal said during debriefing, the team did not play well though we scored so many goals. I guess focus is the most important element in our life. If we lose focus, then everything will fall apart.

But I believe that God has been with me all these while, I forgive my former teammates for all the criticisms just like how God has forgiven us in the first place. I personally do not think that it is worth fighting for it as they are also my brothers and sisters in Christ. After all, I should focus more on long term friendship than losing one in just a night.

I thank God for granting me patience. If it was the usual me, then I know that I will definitely respond to it with unethical behaviour. And that is so not how a Christian should behave. I accept the criticisms and swallow it in like a man. All those criticisms were not serious compared to what my Lord has gone through. My God is truly an awesome God and He will be there for me and everyone in this world no matter what.

Gang Bintang - My New Team

Well, this is Gang Bintang. It has been nearly two weeks since I joined this club. My teammates were familiar with my style of play because I have been playing with them at Sports Plaza on every Saturday for nearly a year. They are a bunch of great players.

Do you know that Gang Bintang is one of the first Floorball team in Malaysia ? Well, according to Khalid, this team was formed shortly after the establishment of the Malaysian Floorball Association. So, most of the players in Gang Bintang were first generation Floorballers. Khalid is one of the pioneers in Malaysian Floorball. I have full respect towards him because he is really good and humble as a person. He nurtured and taught me all the Floorball techniques. Of course, I am nowhere near his level but I will be there one day. LOL !

Besides Khalid, another player whom I respect most is Sjaiful, the Malaysian captain. He has given me many advices which eventually helped me in my progress to become a better player. He is also a very nice guy because he offered to teach and guide me as I play. Whenever I made any mistakes, he will tell and correct me right on the spot.

I believe it is truly God's blessing because it is a rare opportunity to have experienced players like them to be my personal instructor. I respect them as a friend, teammate and also a coach. I have taken this opportunity to learn from the best and I think it is a very wise thing to do. That is because you cannot throw opportunities like these away. Once you missed it, then it is really too bad for you. I really thank God for such an opportunity. It has been a joyful experience to be able to play alongside with them.

But ultimately, I will always glorify Him through this sport. This is my primary purpose and in Him I trust.

What is Selangor Floorball League ?

Many people have been asking me about the upcoming Floorball league that I have been updating frequently. So yeah, instead of explaining one by one; I will just post it here and let those who are interested to read about it.

Actually, this league is the first league in this state. There are other leagues in Penang and Sabah but there is none in this state. So, the clubs in KL and Selangor have met up and formed a committee to start a league this year. It is nothing huge at this moment because we just want to get it started first, so there is no publicities and all sort of fancy stuffs.

The details below are a brief introduction on how the league will look like.

Competition format:

There are 5 teams competing in the League (as of 2009). Teams include Subang Rascals, Geng Bintang, Salibandy!Co., KLIUC Griffin and KLIUC Hornets.

- Each team will play others twice, for a total of 8 games.

- Teams receive 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and no points for a loss.

- Teams are ranked by total points, then goal differences and goals scored.

- At the end of the League, the team with the most points is crowned "Champions of Selangor".

- If points are equal, the goal difference will determine the winner.

- The top 2 teams in the League will qualify to the Champions' League comprised of the top 2 teams in Penang League and Sabah league.

Rules & Regulations:

- Rules & Regulations are based on the IFF rule book except for jersey details. The rest of the rules are applied.

In the meantime, there is no official logo for the league. I will upload it if I have the design on the logo. Please do pray for the league especially for smooth running in terms of schedules.

Firstly, I would like to apologize for not updating much lately. I have been really lazy and thoughtless on what to write. So, I think I should start posting some thoughts. I have never done this for quite some time, so bear with me if there are mistakes in it.

A little updates. I have been all good lately; just finished my finals and currently on my semester break. I will be undergoing some intense Floorball training soon and KL league is in a month time. So, I would be featuring in hardcore Floorball matches in months to come. I think I would most probably be playing for Khalid's team instead of Salibandy!Co. because I want to get exposed to some different style of play to sharpen my skills in this sport. But do pray for me as I am still considering which team to play for.

But these updates are related to the post that I am about to write. Giving glory to God in everything that I do has been a life motto. I sort of made a vow during RBS that I would give Him my best in everything that I do and to honor Him even when things have gone from bad to worse.

Well, to be honest, sometimes I slacked and did not thank Him for the blessings He has given me. Like seriously, I believe that my spiritual life is on a rocky road right now. It is like a roller-coaster ride; too many ups and downs. I think it happens to everyone and not just me. But of course, different people have different ways to get their feet back on the ground.

So, to live up with that motto is not an easy task. Yeah, it is good to have such spirit to self-motivate. But there are always temptations around that will make you fall. At a certain point in life, you will fall and that is the time when you have to pick yourselves up and make choices in life. It is the choice we make that will determine which path we are about to go. Trust me; one wrong or little mistake could make your life miserable. I have been there before and it is not a good path.

But one thing I know for sure when I fall, is that God will still be there for me. And it is important to believe in this because you know there is always a person you can count onto. Each time I fall, I will somehow remember of all the great memories or encounter I had with Him; whether is it during a rally, camp or etc. It is always a flashback when I hit the "deep depression".

So you will never walk alone even if you hit the "deep depression". That is because God will be with you as He is faithful. Start giving Him your very best in the things you do and praise Him no matter what.
